Children's & Youth Choirs Our rehearsals are challenging and fun. In addition to preparing special anthems, we learn about the music of the church through the singing of hymns and liturgy. Hymns from different cultures are an important part of our repertoire and are often sung in their original language (Swahili, German, Latin, Spanish). Youth Choir: Grades 7–12 Come join this stellar 40+ voice choir as we sing challenging music of many styles (Renaissance to Baroque to Classical to Gospel) from around the world. The Youth Choir sings in unison, two, three and four-part harmony. Along with singing for worship and special events at All Saints', the youth choir travels out of town each year to perform at another church, spending the weekend singing and having fun. Come ring handbells! Note-reading not necessary; ability to count to eight required! Commitment, punctuality and regular attendance are a must for those wishing to ring with these groups. We ring 3 and 4-octave handbell music, sometimes separating into two groups based on experience and age. We have two sets of Malmark handbells and three octaves of Malmark choir chimes. Join us! This outstanding, energetic elementary choir sings for Sunday morning worship, presents a musical, and sings for various special events throughout the year (5:00 Christmas Eve, Kanuga weekend & St. Nicholas program.) Singers learn challenging treble music, sing in harmony, sing in foreign languages, sing a variety of global and multi-cultural music, move to the music and learn to sing with their "best voice." Hymn singing is an important part of our learning. Challenges and fun all around! Our beginner handbell choir advances quickly each year as ringers learn handbell techniques, basic note and rhythm reading, teamwork and a broadened sense of musicianship. Enthusiasm is the word that best describes this age! This singers have lots of fun playing musical games, learning solfege (do, re, mi), finding their choir voice and beginning note, rhythm and lyric reading all through music appropriate for this age group. The Primary Choir sings for various Sunday morning services and other special events.
