The All Saints' Choir

All Saints' is known for its musical heritage.The church has been blessed for many years with a rich tradition of music in worship.

Choirmaster, Raymond Chenault, conducts the All Saints Choir in Lauridsen's "Lux Aeterna" and Tavener's "Song for Athene" with orchestra on All Saints Sunday. Nov. 1, 2009.

Under the direction of Ray and Beth Chenault since 1975, the 40-voice All Saints’ Choir is made up of professional staff singers and volunteers from the parish. With the addition of the magnificent new James G. Kenan Memorial Organ, congregational hymn singing is better supported, the liturgy is greatly enhanced, and the Choir is able to perform an even more varied repertoire of sacred music. The Choir sings the 9:00 and 11:15 services on Sunday mornings, and special choral works are presented with orchestral accompaniment on Christmas, Easter, and All Saints’ Sunday.

Widely recognized as consistently maintaining the highest choral standards, the Choir’s versatility ranges from oratorios, mass settings, and anthems, to spirituals. The Choir has commissioned and premiered many choral works, including David Briggs’ “Requiem” for All Saints’ Sunday in November 2003. They have sung at Carnegie Hall, Washington National Cathedral, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York, Piccolo Spoleto in Charleston, and at conventions of the American Guild of Organists, the Association of Anglican Musicians, and the Southeastern Conference of the American Choral Directors’ Association. Six CD's are currently available.

Choir rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from September through May. Interested parishioners who have a pleasant, blendable singing voice and can sight-read music are invited to audition with the Chenaults.
